Task 2 page 44

2 MAIN IDEAS
"How would you summarize the article if a friend asked you what it was about?"

The text "Media in Motion" is mainly about media and especially the Internet, and who uses it. The first medium that was used was the newspaper, and the roots of the term "the media" goes back to the 1800s. Back then, newspapers were the only medium they could use to give news to a mass audience.

Later on, the tv and the radio were invented, and it was not before in 1889 that the internet became a system open to anyone with a computer. By 2000 there were 361 million users, and ten years later there were more than 2 billion people online.

30% of the world's population is on the Internet, and although almost half of those people is Asian, English is the preferred language of international communication on the Internet. 56,7% of all Internet pages is written in English, and 44% of the users are Asian, and only 22.7 are European.

However, the last years the number of Internet users that speak Asian is roughly the same, but people from around the world still uses English as their Lingua Franca. And if they continue to choose English, English will remain the most important language of international communication in the future.

Summary about Friday

From what I have heard, they did a lot of different things on Friday. They talked about social media, and they went down to Øystese to interview people about the subject.
In the end of the day, they watched a movie about the social media "facebook", and how it was made. The movie they watched is called "The Social Network". If you click the title, you can read a summary of the movie written by Michael Michelini.

Task 2 p.47

B) Discuss which of the interviewees you think made the best point. Who was the most interesting  to listen to?
I think that Diane was the one who made the best point, and she used facebook in a creative way that was useful for her and her hair salon. Clearence also made a good point because he talked about the dangers of social media.
